The Need
While often overlooked, hair loss is associated with psychological consequences, including anxiety and depression which impacts a person's sense of self, and has a profound effect on the patient transition back to society. Therefore, the loss of hair affects not only the individual's social perception, but also their confidence, and self-worth. The lack of support in this area results in needless patient suffering, can potentially affect the course of the disease. Female participants report significantly greater difficulty adjusting and managing in society post hair loss.
According to the National Cancer Institute and Journal of Cancer Practice, hair loss is ranked as one of the topmost feared side effect in the treatment of cancer; over sixty percent of those receive treatment face hair loss as the most traumatic experience of treatment. Though often classified as superficial in the face of misfortune, it is one of the most astonishing and overwhelming side effects in the treatment for cancer. Many of these women also lack access to medical, financial, emotional support and transportation resources. That's where we come in.
Our Partnerships
We hope to establish a dialog with cancer-fighting organizations about the opportunity for cranial prosthesis products to be made more available to other powerful programs. This dialog should translate into individual customized partnerships. Teaming up to wrap our sisters in support while they travel the journey of their lives.
Our Program
Neubian's Queen Crown And Glory is an extension of Neubian's Queen Hair Importer that saw a need and began providing sponsorship for cranial prosthesis to a small number of women in the community. We see how our philanthropy affects this community and their sense of hope. Therefore, we decided to establish ourselves as a non-profit 501c(3) to continue on our mission.
We know that assistance with hair loss can help preserve self-image, relieve apprehensions while conserving and promoting a discrete atmosphere for healing. We have helped women overcome the boundless emotional affect of hair loss (their "Crown") as we assisted them in reclaiming self-image (their "Glory"). Therefore, we intend to grow in our efforts and continuing delivering this much-needed service to the community. Our services will not only address their special needs but, will also give them a positive sense of self and, improve their quality of life as they transition back into society.
